Recap: The wife wrecked her car and both of our other cars had mechanical problems at the same time so we’ve been scouring the internet for a “new to us” with decent mileage and in our price range (deep breath) and now you’re caught up.
There nothing like having good family. My mom and dad were on the hunt for us every night and day since the accident. They’ve sent me more links to cars than I can count.
Yesterday afternoon Mom called and said there was a nice-looking Dodge Journey over at one of the lots in town. A guy named Mike owns the lit and we’ve done business with him before. I bought my Ranger from him.

Now we weren’t specifically looking for a Dodge Journey. I wasn’t looking for a Dodge of any type. I’m a Ford guy. Just always have been. I love Rangers. Period.
But this car has enough room in it for all of us and it’s extremely comfortable. I don’t want a minivan. I will never drive a minivan. This feels like driving something that big but it’s smaller and it’s considered a crossover SUV.
Long story short, within an hour we’d made a deal with Mike and we were on our way home.
I can’t remember why but we stopped by Mom and Dad’s last night and while we were there the guy with the other Dodge Journey called. It seems like the folks who were test-driving the car he had kept him on the hook all day and then their finances fell through. He would have had cash in hand with us.
We had found his listing from his lot through FB Marketplace. Problem was he listed it as having lower mileage and about $2700 cheaper.
I asked him about that and he said that was a mistake. We checked his website and the marketplace listing again yesterday. Still misleading, still a $2700 difference, and the mileage was way off between the two. We also looked at reviews. There were not flattering.
Someone was watching out for us yesterday.
I guess it was to be.
And that’s the Paul Harvey of the thing.
