I watched this from Grapevine Documentaries tonight.
I’ve had two experiences worth noting just off the BRP on Heintooga Ridge Rd.
This road is where the Mile High Overlook is situated and is also home to the Masonic marker mentioned in the documentary.
One night a couple of years ago me and the wife rode up to Mile High Overlook to get some pics of the night sky. As we sat there a military vehicle pulled up. Now I thought it was a vehicle someone bought and repurposed. Sort of like folks doing the van life thing. Then the driver got out. He was wearing BDU’s. He was in uniform.
This was long before I’d heard of the rumors about underground bases there.
The next time was just this passed July. We were out once again taking pics of the stars. This location is great due to the lack of light pollution.

We were just up the road from the Masonic marker mentioned in the video.
We heard footsteps which I attributed to animal. Possibly elk, maybe bear. Then we noticed a light.
Now, it could have been a headlamp.
It could have been a flashlight.
But it’s hard to tell when you get real nervous and the hair on the back of your neck stands up and you’re moving away from a location as fast as safely possible on a mountain road.
And that’s what I have. I haven’t really researched it a whole lot. But the expanse of the GSMNP would lend to people doing just about anything there. I’ll bet there’s whole swaths of forest a human hasn’t set foot on in decades.
It’s a mysterious place.
Get off the highway!
