I woke up about 5:30 this morning and took the boy to school.
I’ve been thinking about getting back to wandering.
Sometimes you just have to quit thinking and do it.
So this morning, I ended up at 40 Acre Rock. It’s the closest thing to a mountain hike I’ll get around here.

It’s a great place and I can be as far away from other people as possible it seems.

I hadn’t meant to go much farther than the main part of the big rock, but then I could hear the waterfall at the cave splashing down in the hole so I was drawn there.
The thing about going down is you have to turn around and go right back up again!
It was nice to hear the waterfall running like that after the rain we had yesterday but a real shame to see how badly people have treated such a beautiful area.
The amount of dogwoods in the woods surrounding the rock is awesome.

I love a dogwood. I love what it represents. It makes me smile seeing them bloom this time of year.
On the way out, there was a lady getting out of her car so I got louder in my walk and said good morning and we spoke for a little bit.
I can’t get as far away from people as I’d like sometimes. But at least I had a couple of hours.
